Treatment Options

You and your therapist can put together a program that meets your needs and fits your schedule from these options:

 Individual Psychotherapy: Our counselors are all trained in an effective “user friendly” combination of therapies unique to The Awakening Center, which includes: Internal Family Systems (“Parts” work) Psychodynamic and Adlerian Therapies; Cognitive
Behavioral interventions and Mindfulness techniques. Together you will work to uncover and finally resolve the underlying issues that led to the eating disorder originally.

 Dialectical Behavior Therapy Groups: DBT is especially helpful for those who feel emotions more quickly and intensely and who have difficulty calming down from these feelings. This group will help you to identify, experience and regulate emotions, interact more effectively with yourself and others.

 Creative Expressive Therapy Group: For those who want to explore emotions and learn new coping skills through a mix of visual and verbal modalities. Gain insight into inner wisdom and develop meaningful relationships with others dedicated to recovery.

 Yoga-Informed Therapy Group: For those who want to explore the therapeutic benefits of yoga in their journey towards recovery. Yoga and psychotherapy are used to increase self-regulation, coping, and mind-body-spirit connection, improve body-image and lessen disordered eating attitudes.

 EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and  Reprocessing): The goal of EMDR is to reduce the long-lasting effects of PTSD, trauma, flashbacks, and intrusive memories.  Engaging the brain's natural healing abilities to relieve distressing symptoms. When added to individual psychotherapy, EMDR can accelerate your progress by resolving the impact of past trauma.

 Psious Virtual Reality Therapy: Using the technology of virtual reality, Psious Therapy is designed to help you manage your anxiety or phobias and learn relaxation techniques.

 Family/Marital Therapy: Look at how each family member contributes to the health of the relationship, and learn to resolve problems and dysfunctional patterns.

 Workshops and Classes: Our workshop series “Awaken Your Mind” highlights one-day classes for emotional, nutritional, interpersonal and spiritual wellness. Past workshops include: yoga, meditation, assertiveness, empowerment, body image, stress management, and nutrition.

 The Awakening Center Blog: Our blog “Inner Wisdom” features articles on various health and emotional issues. Click here for the Inner Wisdom Blog
