WOMEN’S EATING DISORDERS THERAPY GROUPS
Thursday evenings

Led by a therapist with personal recovery experience.  Explore feelings, thoughts and behaviors which contribute to binge eating and/or purging and learn key ways to recover your Self and change your Core Beliefs.  Intake interview/commitment to group required. 

RECOVERY JOURNALS
Thursday evenings

Keep your recovery on track daily using visual ways to express and explore issues around self-esteem, anxiety, depression, relationships, eating disorders/disordered eating or body image issues. Low fee/sliding fee available.
Intake interview & commitment to group required. 

DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOR THERAPY (DBT) GROUP
Monday evenings

Members may join at the start of a new unit. 
May 12 - June 2 -- Core Mindfulness: being more present in the here-and-now and enjoying the present moment rather than dwelling on the past or worrying about the future
June 9 - June 30 -- Distress Tolerance: learning to tolerate and survive a crisis situation without making the situation worse by resorting to impulsive, unhealthy behaviors
July 7 - July 28 -- Emotion Regulation: learning about the function of emotions and acknowledging humans’ tendency to react to negative emotions with secondary emotions of guilt, shame, or anger
August 4 - August 25 -- Interpersonal Effectiveness: learning effective strategies for establishing healthy boundaries with others

Intake interview & commitment to group required. 

PEER SUPERVISION GROUP FOR THERAPISTS

PSYCHOTHERAPY GROUP
Wednesday Evenings

Therapy group for men and women, open to all issues.  Includes therapeutic process, experiential exercises, meditation and exploration of different spiritual perspectives to facilitate healing and growth.  Begins in March.  Group meets for 10 sessions with option to renew.  Intake interview/commitment to group required. 

‘TTC @ TAC’ – TEENS TAKE CHARGE AT THE AWAKENING CENTER

DBT group for teens, 13  -  18 yrs.  Help for teens to take charge of their emotions, their choices, and their lives.  Give them the tools to be in charge.

May 15—June 19: Interpersonal Effectiveness
The core skill “Mindfulness” is incorporated into each of the other skills module.

Understand and resolve food, weight and body issues.  This 15 week group will help you explore your feelings and gain insight through topics such as:   isolation vs. reaching out, thoughts vs. feelings, criticism vs. praise, emotional hunger vs. physical hunger, weight control vs. natural weight and holding on vs. letting go. 

YOGA: BASICS, BALANCE & BEYOND

This relaxing and rejuvenating class welcomes all levels of students, from people who are brand new to exercise and/or yoga to experienced practitioners. In each 60 minute session, we will focus on basic yoga postures and breath awareness, while finding a balance between effort and ease in every pose. Small classes are tailored to meet the individual needs of each attendee.

SEXUAL ABUSE SURVIVORS GROUP

Therapy group for sexual abuse/sexual trauma survivors.  Members should be in individual therapy.  Intake interview/commitment to group required. 


“Awaken Your Mind” – a Workshop Series

March 1  1-3pm – “Everything you ever wanted to know about   recovery but were too shy to ask!”

How to plan, shop for and "put together" fast, healthy and tasty meals in minutes - not hours!  Learn "supermarket savvy" foods to cut down on shopping time. A practical, "non-preachy" workshop to help you meet your nutritional needs with more ease & enjoyment.

March 15   12-4pm - Integrate Visual Images into Your Recovery

Express your thoughts & feelings with a series of art making activities.  Explore the benefits of other outlets of expression to assist in the recovery process & to increase self-understanding and insight ...No art experience or talent necessary.

Mar 22   1-3pm – Self Defense Skills for Women

In honor of Anxiety Disorders Awareness Day, Amy Grabowski will help you understand anxiety and panic physically, mentally & emotionally.  She’ll teach you skills and tools to stop anxiety in it’s tracks.  Workshop includes free copy of her CD “Imagine Being At Peace….”

May 10 1-3pm  – What You See Is What You Get

Guided imagery uses mental pictures for stress management, habit control, & improved physical & emotional health.  Learn to use imagery to reach your goals.  You’ll receive a guided imagery CD designed to keep up the momentum started in class.
