Drawing from a wide range of psychotherapeutic techniques, holistic psychotherapy provides you with the opportunity to discuss life issues from a place of mindfulness. This approach provides you with the capacity to manage stress, to problem-solve effectively, and instill trust in others. It combines looking at the body and mind as subsystems of each other and the impact they have on each other. In it's most basic form, it helps you establish harmony throughout the whole system. Some of the modalities used are drawn from Internal Family Systems (a psycho dynamic approach), and Body Centered Psychotherapy. Looking at lifestyle patterns, we consult using supplements, herbs, and healthy-eating from a wellness perspective. Coaching on topics such as longevity and personal empowerment, together we also create customized programs. These educational consultations are the key to understanding and reducing stress, promoting greater health, and developing balance in everyday life. In addition to these private lifestyle consultations, we are also available to help you stabilize your goals and achieve optimal health. Shiatsu involves stretching, holding, and leaning body weight into various parts of your body to improve energy flow. Pressure and contact is applied through the hands, thumbs, fingers, forearms, knees and feet, while you are sitting or lying in various positions while fully clothed. Bodywork may be facilitated on a futon mat or massage table.
Yoga Therapy promotes better health and assists in bringing about physical and mental steadiness. Yoga and its many modalities are used to address emotional and physical obstacles while integrating the body and mind to address:
The yoga therapist will observe your movement, alignment, successes, and limitations, and provide reflection and guidance when needed. This type of observation is valuable for progress on your yoga mat, which can translate into progress in your daily life. Learning how to respond to stress and resistance in your yoga practice is one way to work with learning how to respond to external and internal stress. The therapist will also explore your physical limitations and resistance, and how they may relate to your body's expression of your emotional body. Yoga Therapy is holistic in asserting that true healing must occur on all levels of being: emotional, mental, and spiritual. The healing modalities used in Yoga Therapy are complimentary to Western medicine; and as such, should not be construed as a substitute for either a medical diagnosis or the services of a physician. Practicing Yoga as an adjunct to Psychotherapy is helpful in calming the nervous system, focusing the mind, and soothing the physical body. You are then able to tolerate and communicate your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors from a place of clarity and peace. By integrating yoga and psychotherapy, the connection to your authentic self is re-established and your ability to heal and recover is enhanced. "YogaTalk" Group provides the tools to understanding your own unique patterns, as well as support and education on wellness and recovery.
